Today a.s.r. real estate on behalf of the ASR Dutch Science Park Fund, construction combination Dura Vermeer – Trebbe and De Groot have signed the contracting agreement for the 4,000 sq. m. expansion of The Gallery at Kennispark Twente. This expansion, designed to meet the growing demand for office and laboratory space at the park, confirms a close collaboration between the parties involved. The cooperation was officially ratified on October 24, 2023.

In collaboration with the construction team, we made smart use of the existing situation for the expansion, eliminating the need for heavy construction. The expansion provides a nice flexible interpretation and addition for new companies and also to further sustainability of the building.

About The Gallery
A versatile building, where knowledge and technology come together, The Gallery houses a range of tenants, including Designlab University of Twente, start-ups, scale-ups and established companies. It provides space for offices, commercial spaces and laboratories, and provides a reception area, parking garage, restaurant and Grand Café. It is currently almost fully leased.
Multi-tenant in the new innovation district
The more than 4,000 m² extension, designed by Defesche van den Putte architects who were also involved in the previous design, will be a multi-tenant building in the new innovation district, located between the campus and the existing Business and Science Park. Together with Kleissen construction management, structural engineer Schreuders and consultant Sweegers and de Bruijn, the expansion will be realized. In addition to businesses, shared facilities such as meeting spaces, co-working spaces, shared labs and catering facilities will also find their place. In addition, the building will have a refreshed look and feel. Parking will be expanded on and around the site and additional charging stations for electric cars will be installed.
Construction of secure laboratories
The expansion includes both office and laboratory spaces. The laboratories will be built according to strict guidelines to ensure the safety of staff and the environment. They will meet ML-I class (Microorganisms Laboratory scale) with basic (connection) facilities. In addition, the design is such that the lab space can be upgraded to ML-II class.
Sustainability and planning
Construction combination Dura Vermeer – Trebbe was awarded the contract in construction team earlier this year. With this official signing, work has already started. The expansion is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2024. After completion, new labels and certifications will be requested to obtain a BREEAM In-Use. Completion of this property is expected by the end of 2024.
