Car Parks is building an iconic multi-storey car park at Kennispark

Car Parks has signed a contract with Enschede City Council to build a new multi-storey car park at Kennispark Twente. The car park will have 325 parking spaces and will be a striking feature of the innovation campus. With its iconic design, green appearance and sustainable energy generation, the multi-storey car park is in line with the ambitions of Kennispark and the city council.

The contract was awarded following a tender process, in which the Municipality of Enschede sought the most iconic design for the new car park. Car Parks won the tender with a distinctive design developed in collaboration with the local architectural firm IAA Architecten from Enschede. JVZ Ingenieurs is responsible for the construction. Spark B.V. acted as a consultant on behalf of the Municipality of Enschede during the tender process.

Iconic and sustainable

The car park will be more than just a place to park a car. The design combines recognisable architecture with various sustainable elements. The façade will feature expanded metal and a green façade. The roof will incorporate a combination of greenery and solar panels, making the car park energy-neutral.

In addition, the car park will feature a commercial ground-floor level. The facility will initially be used by users and visitors to the Kennispark campus. Visitors attending FC Twente matches will also be able to use the car park.

Collaboration

Car Parks is developing the car park in collaboration with various regional and local partners. IAA Architecten from Enschede is responsible for the design and JVZ Ingenieurs for the construction.

“We look back with great enthusiasm on the tender process and our collaboration with IAA Architecten. It is wonderful that, with this design, we have managed to translate the council’s ambition for an iconic multi-storey car park into a concrete plan. We look forward to bringing this to life together from April 2027,” said Max van Gerrevink, commercial manager at Car Parks.

Construction of the car park is expected to begin in April 2027. Completion is scheduled for December 2027. The new car park will provide Kennispark with a sustainable and future-proof parking facility, which will form part of the further development of the innovation campus.
