Erik Dunnewind, Kennispark’s new neighbourhood cop, is happy to introduce himself: ‘I am 33 years young, married, have two children and live in beautiful Hardenberg. People describe me as someone who does not like to sit still and is therefore always busy with something. These occupations vary from sports to odd jobs and from long trips to ‘just’ a beer in the backyard. I am broadly interested in all kinds of subjects, so please take me up on what interests you!
I joined the police force in May 2012 after the application process and accompanying examination, and have been working in Enschede since 2014. In recent years, I have held all kinds of positions within the police, so I can safely say that by now there is quite a lot of knowledge and experience in my backpack. After Jurgen Rekers left the district agency for another position around the summer of 2023, I was brought in as acting district agent. During that period, I found that I really enjoy the neighbourhood agency and after a vacancy became available, I immediately applied for it. On 18 May 2024, I was subsequently appointed district constable for the areas of Kennispark, Drienerveld UT, Voortman/Amelink, Dorp Lonneker and the hamlet of Lonneker West. A beautiful and diverse area with the necessary challenges per neighbourhood!
Relatively speaking, Kennispark is a quiet and safe neighbourhood, but even in such neighbourhoods all sorts of things can happen in terms of safety and crime. Of course, it is impossible to see and/or hear everything, so I depend on your eyes and ears! If there are issues you would like to discuss with me, don’t hesitate to come to me on the line.
