Digital Autonomy: Risk, Safety & Security

On Thursday 5 November 2026, everything will come together on the University of Twente campus. During the Risk & Resilience Festival, you’ll explore a question that is becoming increasingly urgent for organisations: how do you maintain control in a world that is entirely dependent on digital systems?

Digital technology is no longer merely a supporting tool, but the backbone of decision-making, service provision and safety. At the same time, dependence on external platforms, data and infrastructure is growing. And with it, so too is vulnerability.

The question is not whether something will go wrong, but when.

During this festival, you’ll look beyond the hype and get to the heart of the matter: digital autonomy as a strategic issue. What does it mean for your organisation if systems fail, data is no longer reliable or dependencies become too great?

Together with academics, executives and professionals, you’ll explore how, as an organisation, you can:

• maintain control over digital dependencies
• identify risks in good time and make them manageable
• strengthen security and continuity
• build resilience in an increasingly complex digital environment
