Walking where water works

The next edition of the Twente Golf Watercreathon is scheduled for 17 September 2026. Whilst no fewer than 150 students from Saxion University of Applied Sciences and the University of Twente spend a whole day working on innovative solutions to current water issues, a supporting programme will be organised in the afternoon for professionals, policymakers, businesses, researchers and other interested parties.

Part of this programme is the ‘Walk on Water’: an inspiring walk past innovative water projects in and around Enschede city centre. Along the way, you’ll hear first-hand how these projects contribute to solutions for challenges such as flooding, drought, climate adaptation and a future-proof living environment.

Guided by experts, we’ll visit, amongst other places:

• Pathmos and the wadis
• Saxion’s Climate Square
• The Volkspark

After the walk, you’ll get an exclusive insight into the challenges the student teams have been working on that day. Challenge organisers will first present their problems, after which we’ll round off the day together with the Watercreathon final. There, the student teams will pitch their ideas during the Dragon’s Den.

The afternoon will conclude with a networking drinks reception for the students in attendance, challenge organisers and participants in the supporting programme.
