Become a partner of UT’s new ‘Going Dutch’ Minor

Free advice on how your company can engage and captivate UT Master students? Become a partner of the new Minor “Going Dutch. During this minor, students are prepared for the Dutch labor market. Last year the UT started this program and for the coming school year a great number of students have signed up again. It is catching on among the target group. However, the UT is still looking for companies willing to supervise/support students. A great way to bind international talent to your company at an early stage.

WHAT IS THE REASON?

Every year large numbers of foreign students graduate from the University of Twente, but only a few find a job in Twente. Here lies an opportunity as companies in the region have a crying need for technicians and other highly educated talents. Hence the Minor ‘Going Dutch’ which will restart in September 2023 and last one quarter.

This new Minor for foreign bachelor students of the UT aims to better connect them to the regional labor market and encourage them to choose a job in Twente after graduation. The Minor consists of three components: an intensive course in Dutch, a subject on Dutch (business) culture and a section on business administration and advisory skills. This prepares the students as well as possible for a career in the Netherlands.

As a final assignment, the students are asked to write an advisory report for a company in the region. To this end, they make an analysis of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the company in order to attract suitable foreign graduates. What kind of graduates with what skills does the company need and how can the company best attract and retain the desired skilled workers?

WHICH COMPANIES ARE BEING SOUGHT?

For this Minor, UT is looking for 4-5 companies each year who would like to act as partners and have such research conducted by a group of 5 students. There is no cost to participate. The only investment it will cost your organization is time. The students will spend several days in October and November, under the guidance of a supervisor from the company, interviewing employees, observing business processes and collecting data in other ways. In the process, the students immediately get to know your company as a potential employer. During a project meeting at UT, the initial findings will be presented to you as a partner. In mid-November, you as a participating company will receive an advisory report with the final findings.

Do you find this interesting and would you like to be approached for an introduction and exploration of a possible cooperation?
