In the second week of October, the Fraunhofer Innovation Platform is organizing a week of inspiration, knowledge exchange, networking and tours of the state-of-the-art “learning factory” around the opening of the new location.
The Fraunhofer Innovation Platform is the result of a close collaboration between the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology IPT in Aachen, Germany, and the University of Twente in Enschede.
The new location of the Fraunhofer Innovation Platform for Advanced Manufacturing not only offers much more space than the existing location on the University of Twente campus, but also provides essential opportunities to increase its visibility in and outside the region. This new location will also have access to a so-called test factory, an industrial test facility, specifically designed to demonstrate advanced Industrie 4.0 solutions to industry partners.
The test plant will be a state-of-the-art “learning factory,” fully operational, with the most up-to-date production systems and advanced manufacturing concepts and technologies. This creates a perfect environment to demonstrate Industrie 4.0 operationally. The building will consist of some ±1000 sq. ft. of office space, spread over four floors, and a 925 sq. ft. test production facility. A generous layout has been chosen to make Fraunhofer future-proof and so that there is sufficient room for growth.
The new location is also symbolic: its location opposite the main entrance to the university campus clearly shows that they are still an integral part of the University of Twente, while also connecting with industry and the surrounding area beyond.
More information about the opening week will follow soon.
